Abstract:
This case study is about the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). ISRO, the space research agency controlled by the Government of India, had successfully launched various space vehicles since its formation in 1969. Over the years, ISRO had attained the enviable reputation of being one of the most prestigious and leading space research organizations in the world, making India one of the seven nations in the world to have the satellite launching capability. ISRO had built communication satellites, remote sensing satellites, and launch vehicles. The space program had become largely self-reliant, capable of designing and building satellites for providing space services and launching them using indigenously designed and developed launch vehicles. ISRO had a long-term plan ‘Vision 2025’ for the Space Research Program which included development of reusable launch vehicles, human space flight, enhanced imaging capability, satellite-based communication and navigation systems, and planetary exploration. According to experts, the working model of Projects and Programs helped ISRO achieve this significant growth.
